Swimming

As I am swimming along with this learning activity I have begun to think that I need help with my swimming technique. Janet has kindly posted this information on YouTube so I can look and learn. Hope it might be of use to anyone else who may read my blog.

Wikis

Wikis are a good tool for communication between groups. I am already part of group that shares information. As this group is only open to invited members I feel confident about the content. But I am not sure how many people understand that Wikipedia is open to corruption.

RSS

What did I learn? That I will receive information on a regular basis but that I will have to learn to manage this information so that it does not become overwhelming. Will this technology save me time or will I find myself tied to the computer. Or do I get enough information from the 6pm news? I can see that with a certain amount of discrimination this could be a useful tool to alert students and library staff to new information out on the web. Or possibly channel this information to other interested staff.

Miss Potter

Dear All,

I have just watched the DVD Miss Potter. The beautiful Lake District in England is where Beatrix Potter lived and wrote many of her stories. Searching on Flickr revealed holiday photos from travellers who have visited the area. I have uploaded the picture of her house from the National Trust website in the UK as this seemed more appropriate than borrowing from someone else. Click on the link if you would like to find out more about Beatrix Potter.

Arrived

Dear All,
My journey has begun to lifelong learning. Use it or lose it as they say. This program will hopefully keep me in touch with the younger generation. I do not think I will ever become a blogger but this experience may change my mind. I do not blog but I do like to chat. I think blogs have a place in libraries because they offer an opportunity to discuss and post homework help for students as well as provide an oppotunity for library services to be evaluated and improved. They are also a communication tool for people who may be housebound and may see blogs as a way to keep in touch with the world and have the world interact with them. Looking forward to the program. Until next time, Bella
